Services / Pennsylvania
Bio Matrix Inc. provides on-site and mail-in pipette and balance calibration for laboratories across Pennsylvania. NIST-traceable documentation designed to support GLP/GMP, CAP, CLIA, and FDA audit requirements in Greater Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and the pharma-dense Montgomery County corridor.
Pennsylvania's life sciences sector spans two distinct metropolitan clusters. Greater Philadelphia is one of the most significant pharmaceutical and biotech hubs on the East Coast, with major companies concentrated in Montgomery County and the Route 202 corridor, alongside the research and clinical operations of Penn Medicine, Jefferson Health, Drexel University College of Medicine, and Temple University Hospital. Pittsburgh hosts the UPMC health system — one of the largest integrated health systems in the country — alongside Carnegie Mellon and University of Pittsburgh research programs that continue to seed a growing biotech corridor. Across both regions, labs operate under FDA GLP and GMP frameworks, CAP accreditation, and CLIA certification, all requiring calibration records that go well beyond a basic service sticker.
Our northeastern regional team covers Pennsylvania on scheduled service routes. On-site visits are available for labs with 10 or more pipettes — our technician arrives with all calibration equipment, tools, and 800+ OEM-quality replacement parts so service is completed at your facility in a single visit. Instruments that need repairs don't require a separate shipping cycle in most cases. Mail-in service is available for any PA address, with no minimum instrument count and no disruption to on-site operations.
Calibration certificates are delivered digitally, signed, and formatted to satisfy FDA quality auditors, CAP inspectors, and GMP documentation review boards. No supplemental formatting or reformatting required from your QA team.
Pharma GMP & Academic CAP
Pennsylvania labs span both GMP-regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing and CAP-accredited academic medical centers. Our Level 3 service captures as-found and as-left performance data required for both FDA quality audits and CAP proficiency documentation.
Our PA regional team runs scheduled routes across the Philadelphia metro, Pittsburgh corridor, and central Pennsylvania. Mail-in service is available from any Pennsylvania zip code.
UPenn, Jefferson Health, Drexel, and Temple medical systems anchor a dense hospital lab network. Major pharma and biotech companies in the broader metro require GLP/GMP-grade calibration documentation.
Carnegie Mellon, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and a growing biotech corridor along the Monongahela innovation district. Academic and clinical labs with CAP and CLIA requirements.
One of the largest pharma and life sciences employment clusters in Pennsylvania. Numerous corporate R&D and manufacturing facilities operating under FDA oversight and GMP quality frameworks.
Pharmaceutical manufacturing operations and regional hospital systems including Lehigh Valley Health Network. Calibration requirements span GMP production labs and CAP-accredited clinical environments.
State government and environmental testing laboratories, regional hospital systems, and public health labs with recurring calibration and compliance documentation needs.
Mail-in service is available from any PA address with no minimum instrument count. Ideal for smaller clinical labs, academic departments, or single-instrument needs statewide.
Pennsylvania's laboratory compliance landscape reflects the breadth of its life sciences industry. GMP-regulated pharmaceutical and biotech facilities — concentrated in King of Prussia, Montgomery County, and the Philadelphia metro corridor — must maintain calibration records that comply with FDA 21 CFR Part 211 for production environments and 21 CFR Part 58 for GLP research settings. These regulations require not only that pipettes be calibrated, but that pre-service performance data (as-found readings) be documented to establish whether instruments were within specification at the time of service. Standard service stickers or basic post-calibration certificates do not satisfy this requirement on their own.
Bio Matrix's Level 3 service is built for exactly this requirement. Each certificate includes as-found and as-left performance tables at every calibrated volume, technician identification, traceability chain to NIST reference standards, and test parameters aligned with ISO 8655. The format is accepted by FDA quality auditors and can be submitted directly to QA and regulatory affairs teams without reformatting. For CAP-accredited hospital and academic labs — including those within Penn Medicine, UPMC, Jefferson Health, and Lehigh Valley Health Network — the same certificate satisfies the calibration documentation requirements reviewed during CAP inspection cycles.
Balance calibration is available on-site for PA facilities that require gravimetric verification of precision or analytical balances alongside pipette service, and our mail-in program covers any Pennsylvania laboratory that falls outside the on-site service radius or has fewer than 10 instruments to service at a time.
