Services / Alabama
Bio Matrix Inc. provides on-site and mail-in pipette and balance calibration for laboratories across Alabama. NIST-traceable documentation designed for CAP, CLIA, and GLP compliance — serving UAB, HudsonAlpha, regional hospital systems, and academic research labs statewide.
Alabama's research and clinical laboratory community is anchored by two major institutions: UAB Medical Center in Birmingham — one of the largest academic medical centers in the southeastern United States — and HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology in Huntsville, a nationally recognized genomics and life sciences campus that has attracted significant private and federally funded research. Both environments demand rigorous calibration documentation. UAB's clinical labs operate under CAP accreditation and CLIA certification; research labs at HudsonAlpha and across the UAB campus follow GLP frameworks and NIH grant compliance requirements.
Our Southeast regional team services Alabama on scheduled routes, offering on-site calibration for facilities with 10 or more pipettes. When a technician visits your lab, they arrive fully equipped — carrying calibration standards, service tools, and more than 800 OEM replacement parts — so every instrument is calibrated and, if needed, repaired on-site the same day. Labs with fewer than 10 instruments can access the same certified service through our mail-in program.
Calibration certificates are reviewed, signed, and delivered digitally — each one containing the instrument identification, calibration date, NIST-traceable reference standard information, tested volume points, and documented pass/fail results. These records are built to satisfy CAP, CLIA, and GLP audit requirements without requiring supplemental documentation.
CAP / CLIA & Academic Research
Alabama's clinical labs — concentrated in Birmingham and Mobile — operate under CAP and CLIA requirements that mandate documented, traceable pipette calibration. Academic and genomics research environments at UAB and HudsonAlpha require the same level of documentation to satisfy NIH grant compliance and GLP protocols.
Our Southeast regional team runs scheduled routes across Alabama. Mail-in service is available from any AL zip code with no minimum instrument count.
UAB Medical Center — one of the largest academic medical centers in the Southeast — anchors a dense concentration of clinical and research labs that operate under CAP, CLIA, and NIH grant compliance requirements.
HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology is a nationally recognized genomics and biotech campus. Combined with aerospace and defense research facilities, Huntsville labs span a wide range of compliance frameworks.
University of South Alabama Medical Center and Gulf Coast regional hospitals drive clinical lab calibration demand, with additional research activity from marine and coastal science institutions.
Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine and agricultural research labs require calibration documentation consistent with academic research and USDA/APHIS standards.
Alabama Department of Public Health laboratories and hospital systems in the capital region operate under CLIA certification and state public health laboratory standards.
Any Alabama laboratory — clinical, academic, or industrial — can ship pipettes for NIST-traceable calibration. No minimum instrument count required.
Clinical laboratories across Alabama — whether operating within hospital systems, independent reference facilities, or physician office labs — must satisfy CLIA certification requirements that include documented calibration of liquid handling equipment at defined intervals. CAP-accredited labs face additional checklist requirements specifying that pipette calibration records include traceability information, calibration dates, and performance data. Both frameworks require these records to be available for review during inspections and retained for defined periods.
Bio Matrix calibration certificates are structured to meet these requirements directly. Each certificate identifies the specific instrument serviced, documents the calibration date and technician, references the NIST-traceable standards used, and provides measured results at each tested volume with clear pass/fail determinations against ISO 8655 tolerances. Level 3 service — which records as-found data before any adjustment is made — provides an additional layer of documentation for research labs that must demonstrate historical instrument performance under grant compliance or GLP protocols.
Analytical and precision balance calibration is available throughout Alabama under the same NIST-traceable framework. Balances used in clinical or research workflows alongside pipettes can be serviced in the same visit, with certificates included in a unified documentation package accepted by CAP, CLIA, and federal grant auditors.
